Imbalance of Gut Microbiota Induces Cancer: a Review

Human intestine harbors both pathogenic and non-pathogenic microorganisms, the later generally have symbiotic relations with the host. In a healthy person a ratio between them most of the time remains constant; however, the ratio is disturbed due to many reasons, including change in dietary conditions. The chronic imbalance between the two groups may turn out to be a serious health problem for the host. Many studies have indicated that gut microbiota is responsible for the health and integrity of the colon but if the beneficial bacterial population is decreased then not only, conditions for development for cancer and many other inflammatory and autoimmune diseases intensifies.
